We all suffer from mental blocks from time to time…here is your chance to make that a good thing…an “orna”-mental thing! Using a nifty transfer process we will begin to turn ordinary wood blocks or boards into ornamental artworks! Once the transfers are complete, we will add color to them with my new favorite art material, NeoColor II water-soluble wax pastels by Caran d’Ache. These wonderfully pigmented art crayons transform our simple black and white transfers into electric and eclectic imagery! We will also learn a bit about working with metal so that you may add a party hat if you wish and a bonus project features the usage of metallic leaf! So get off that couch and engage in some art therapy for your mental blocks…I guarantee your creativity will be unblocked and flow freely during this workshop!
You will learn how to:
- prepare wooden surfaces for usage in art projects.
- generate image transfers using acrylic paint.
- use different properties of NeoColor II watersoluble wax pastels to add color to your transferred images.
- use pattern and color to accentuate your images.
- work with metal (cutting, shaping, drilling).
- use cold connections for adding hats to the blocks.
- work with metallic leaf as a surface treatment.
Supply list (hover over word to activate link): A full supply list will be provided with class registration, but I want you to know that there are a few supplies that are essential for completion of this project so that you may budget accordingly. You will most likely already have many of these in your studio!
